Oklahoma-based International Environmental Corp. (IEC) is the first fan coil manufacturer in the HVAC industry to provide a complete line of products in a Building Information Model (BIM) format using Revit® software from Autodesk®
IEC’s BIM models are available for fast and efficient download from Autodesk, Seek® and IEC websites. This service is a valuable tool for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineers who use Revit software as a design tool.
Revit is unique in that it allows professionals to design with both parametric 3D modeling and 2D drafting elements. In Revit, views of the building model are cameras, either orthographic or perspective: a component such as a boiler, piping header or fan coil unit can be moved in any view, and all other views of the model will update automatically.
Revit is a single file database that can be shared among multiple users. Plans, sections, elevations, legends, and schedules are all interconnected so that when a user makes a change in one view, the other views are automatically revised. When designers working from the same project database make changes, a central database is automatically updated.
By providing accurate, ready-made models of its fan coil units, IEC is helping to improve the speed and accuracy of building design, saving architects and engineers the time it would take them to create their own fan coil models to be incorporated into building designs. The process has greatly enhanced the ease and accuracy of designing mechanical systems for a wide array of commercial, industrial and government projects, whether simple or elaborate.
